What are these Scriptures?
Grief is sometimes a
response to the trouble caused by your enemies. Sometimes the enemy was
your friend, making the grief even more pronounced. Try this Scripture:
Isa 53:3-4
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted
with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised,
and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did
esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. (KJV)
In other words, Jesus experienced grief and sorrow just like you. He is
absolutely acquainted by them. But remember this most of all.
He bore your griefs and
carried your sorrows. Consequently, we can follow Peter here:
1 Pet 5:7
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. (KJV)
The Psalmist
also knew about grief
The Psalmist also knew about grief to the breaking point. He felt his
life was spent with grief and his years with sighing. He felt the pain
of being a reproach, not only among his enemies, but also among his
neighbours. It seems here that they all fled from him when they say him.
He heard their slander as
they devised to take away his very life.
Ps 31:10-14
10 For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: my
strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed.
11 I was a reproach among all mine enemies, but especially among my
neighbours, and a fear to mine acquaintance: they that did see me
without fled from me.
12 I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel.
13 For I have heard the slander of many: fear was on every side: while
they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my
life.
He trusted in the
Lord
Nevertheless, his answer was simple; he
trusted in the Lord.
14 But I trusted in thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my God. (KJV)
Finally, we look at Jesus
and Peter here. You see, many of his disciples left him and walked no
more with him.
John 6:66-68
66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more
with him.
67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?
68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast
the words of eternal life. (KJV)
From the above, we can see that Jesus asked
them a simple question; He asked them, "Will you also go away?"
To
whom shall we go?
Peter answered him with
another question. He asked, "To whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of
eternal life."
When grief settles in on
you, remember that you are the seed of Abraham by grafting. Then
remember these simple Scriptures above. They will put you over. They
will put you over.
