The Kind of Prayer God Answers

The Kind of Prayer God Answers

David hit it right on the head for in the following verses. This is how he prayed for answers. This same formula will work for you too.

1 Chronicles 17:23-27 KJV

23 Therefore now, LORD, let the thing that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant and concerning his house be established for ever, and do as thou hast said.

24 Let it even be established, that thy name may be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel: and let the house of David thy servant be established before thee.

God had said some things (promises) to David. He had said He would establish David's house forever. This meant that God promised to never let his family name and lineage disappear off this earth. His children's children would endure perpetually on this earth.

Notice in the verses above that David prayed that what God promised, (what He had said) be established forever.

In other words, David prayed the words God promised him. He prayed for his house, or descendants, to be established for ever.

25 For thou, O my God, hast told thy servant that thou wilt build him an house: therefore thy servant hath found in his heart to pray before thee.

26 And now, LORD, thou art God, and hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:

27 Now therefore let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may be before thee for ever: for thou blessest, O LORD, and it shall be blessed for ever.

Look closely in verse 25, at the words, God hast told thy servant.

Next, look closely at the words, the servant hath found it in his heart to pray...

Again, be keenly aware that David was praying exactly the words that God had said to him!

In verse 26, he called the words, God promised, by the term, this goodness.

Finally, in verse 27, David gathered what God said, promise, and this goodness,  under one word, bless!  And then he concluded by acknowledging that God had pronounced blessings on him and his house by the words, for thou blessest O Lord.

Now get this! David pronounced his own confidence in God's word by, since you pronounced your promise of blessings on us, my house shall be blessed forever. David prayed what God said and then he said what you said shall be!

Last but certainly not least!

Ecclesiastes 5:2 KJV

2 Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.

See the words mouth and heart?  Now see the two expressions, hasty to utter any thing before God and let thy words be few.

This is self explanatory. Be specific in prayer. Base is on what God said if at all possible. Find a promise in the Scriptures and go for it.
