God Promised His People
Prolonged Days,

God promised his people that He would prolong their days
Keep in mind that the commandments included the commands to sacrifice specific sacrifices when they sinned. If they sinned and sacrificed, the blessings (the long life) in the Abrahamic covenant remained in force uninterrupted for them. In other words, the sacrifice kept the Abrahamic blessing flow (healing, prosperity, family well being and salvation) continuously in force for them with no interruptions. Jesus is now the final sacrifice for sin under Moses' law. His blood keeps the Abrahamic blessings flowing without interruption at this very moment. Remember that Gentile Christians are grafted into this Abrahamic blessings system. This promise of prolonged days belongs to us just as much as it belonged to the Jews in the Old Testament. But this is not all. God promised His people that He would enlarge their borders
Here we go again! All the days of their lives, the sacrifices must be made when they sinned. When they made the proper sacrifices in the proper manner, the result was as if they had not sinned at all. Then they kept what they were born with in the Abrahamic covenant; healing, prosperity, family well being and salvation. In verse 20 below, prosperity is in the scope in the form of enlarged borders.
Remember, we Gentile Christians are grafted into this promise of "enlarged borders" because we have accepted Jesus, God's final sacrifice for sin under Moses' law. At that very moment we accept Jesus, God grafts us into the Abrahamic blessing covenant. God promised His people "a going well" with them and with their children
Remember again that our sacrifice is Jesus, God's final sacrifice for sin(s) under Moses' law. As such, we are grafted immediately into this Abrahamic blessing also. Jesus blood took care of our sin problem in His one act of death. He never has to die again for any of our sins. Praise God.
"Our hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness!" Going well with us and our children is a promise delivered by Jesus blood and righteousness.
Yes! It is better to obey than sacrifice
But aren't you glad God made a way to get us off the hook when we sin. It is sacrifice or hell. Take your pick. They had to sacrifice over and over for each and every sin in the Old Testament. We Christians don't have to sacrifice over and over. Jesus blood and righteousness took care of our sin(s) problem permanently.
Throughout the Old Testament, we see this formula; If they kept the sacrifices, they would maintain what they were born with, their Abrahamic healing, prosperity, family well being and salvation. Failure to sacrifice properly meant an instant cut off of the above blessings. Their continuance in the blessings demanded the proper sacrifice when they sinned or lose them all.
Yes it is better to obey than sacrifice, but aren't you glad God made the provision for the sacrifice.
