Here's the 800 Pound Gorilla in YOUR Prosperity Room in Deuteronomy Chapter Eight
The gorilla is the law of Moses. Look at the Scriptures below. They seem to read like the commandments are used so they could be good enough to earn their way into the blessings listed. This was never the way the commandments of Moses' law were to be used.
The promises are in Abraham's covenant; they are not in Moses' law! The commandments were given to reveal sin to the people. As such, when they sinned, God had graciously included a sacrificial system in Moses' law to maintain their blessing promises when they sinned. They just made the proper sacrifice and their promises continued with no interruption.
When they did not sacrifice properly when they sinned, their blessings ceased for them until they resumed sacrificing properly. This was God's great act of grace in the Old Testament period.
Unfortunately, the religious leadership separated this connection between Moses' law and the Abrahamic promises and set up the law commandments as their total religion. Abraham was forced to retreat into the background. See the next Scripture.
Deuteronomy 8 KJV 1 All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers. 6 Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.
According to their view, the verses above makes the observance of the commandments the price they had to pay to earn entrance into the promised land and the blessings associated with it. But see, God gave it to and through "the fathers," Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Remember, God gave every promise here to Abraham who lived 400 plus years before Moses.
The promises were given to Abraham, not to Moses. The law dealt with their sin problem in such a way that they did not lose one promise when they sinned. They just sacrificed properly and their blessing promises continued. In this way, their sins were set aside and the blessings continued uninterrupted.
Three times in this chapter, God warns us not to Forget Him, his commandments, what he did for them and the penalty that can result for forgetting.
Look at verse 11 below. "Forget not the Lord" is equated with "not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day... By doing one, we commit the other. By forgetting God, they also fail to do the commandments, including the sacrifices.
The same is true in verse 14. When our heart is lifted up, "forgetting the Lord our God" follows immediately, in spite of all his blessings of bringing us out of all kinds of Egyptian bondage.
11 Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day: 14 Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage; 19 And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.
Notice verse 19. Some sins are so severe, they demand the death penalty, regardless if you repent or not. This is true today in our own country. Remember the murder case of Carla Faye Tucker. She repented and accepted Jesus and won many, many inmates to Christ over the years, yet she was put to death. The same thing could happen to them in the Old Testament economy. The moral to this story is don't forget God! Twice in this chapter, God reminds us to Remember2 And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no. 18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
Verse 18 above is one of the strongest prosperity scriptures in the Bible. He gave the people then living (400 plus years after Abraham received the promises from God) the power to get wealth. Why did he give this power to them? He gave this wealth-getting power to them to demonstrate to them that his covenant with Abraham included them also.
You see, the Abrahamic covenant included healing, prosperity, family well being and salvation. It also included Abraham's seed forever. He had to include this power for wealth building. Had God not included them in this, he would have gone back on his word. He would have broken his covenant with Abraham.
Here's the good part. We Gentile Christians are included (by grafting) in the healing, prosperity, family well being and salvation promises on an equal footing with Abraham himself. God has given us the power to get wealth. Consequently, we are included in "power to get wealth" promise.
Here's a List of God's Prosperity Blessings. God grafted us Gentile Christians into this list because Jesus was and is God's final sacrifice for sin. Praise God. Personalize each of the promises below. Put your own name in the passage from beginning to end. See the parentheses below. All of us have been in our own wilderness with our own fiery serpents etc. Insert your own parentheses with your own name in them in all verses below. You are already in them by grafting. 1 Keep all the commandments which I command thee (us) this day shall ye (we) observe to do (including the sacrifices and ours is Jesus), that ye (we) may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land 4 Thy (our) raiment waxed not old upon thee (us), neither did thy (our) foot swell, these forty years. 7 For the LORD thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills; 8 A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of olive oil, and honey; 9 A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass. 10 When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the LORD thy God for the good land which he hath given thee. 12 When thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein; 13 And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied; 15 God led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint; 16 God fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end; 18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
Find your need in here. The sacrifice of Jesus, God's final sacrifice for sin, put these things within our grasp. These are God's promises to us. We were grafted into them the very instant we received Jesus as our sacrifice and savior. Instantly we were grafted into the Abrahamic covenant.
The best way to get started with wealth building power is plant a financial seed. It has to come up and grow into a financial harvest. Plant big and often. You will reap regularly and big.
